Today is our café’s last day of trading.
I want to take this moment to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of our customers. Over the years, your support, kindness, and loyalty have meant so much to us. You weren’t just customers—you became friends and a part of our café family.
We have shared countless cups of coffee, delicious meals, and many wonderful conversations together. It has truly been a privilege to serve you and to be part of your everyday lives, whether it was your morning coffee stop, a weekend brunch with family, or a place to catch up with friends.
Though today marks the end of this chapter, the memories and connections we’ve built will stay with us forever. Thank you again for being with us on this journey.
With gratitude and best wishes,
Team friend of the farmer cafe / Michael

What people say
Friend of the Farmer is a charming coffee shop located in the serene garden environment of Takanini King's Plant Barn and nursery. The cafe has recently undergone a complete renovation, and its country-style decor creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is perfect for families and groups alike.
One of the highlights of Friend of the Farmer is their delicious food menu, which features fresh and tasty options for everyone. They even have a special children's menu with activities to keep the little ones entertained. But what really sets this cafe apart is their exceptional coffee. Their own blend of beans is roasted onsite in an exclusively imported air roaster - the only one currently operating in Australasia! Head barista Donald can even roast up a batch for you to take home.
The cafe boasts three separate indoor areas, including the cozy Tack Room, which is perfect for business meetings or family gatherings. And if you're looking to enjoy some fresh air, their huge covered outdoor area offers a relaxed atmosphere surrounded by colorful gardens and a wild pond.
There's plenty to do at Friend of the Farmer, whether you're with friends or flying solo. You can grab a coffee and curl up with one of the many books on their impressive bookshelf or let your creative side loose with some coloring-in using crayons provided for kids. There's even petanque available for those who want to get competitive! And don't forget about the farmyard animals - chickens, rabbits, and two adorable kunekune piglets - that are sure to delight kids and adults alike.
Overall, Friend of the Farmer is an excellent choice for anyone looking for great food, exceptional coffee, and a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by nature. The friendly staff will make sure you have an enjoyable experience every time you visit.
