It's been crazy 13 weeks for us Auckland! But the good news is it seems like having a beer with your mate at the pub is a reality not too far away. 🙏
We're looking forward to the Friday nights back at Doolan Brothers Newmarket and enjoying the live music, good vibes and cold tap beers that it brings.

We're keeping our fingers and toes crossed we'll get to open our doors to you again sooner rather than later; and oh what a great night that first night back will be!

It's Friday & the weekend is here!
And since we can't be serving you up a weekend filled with good times and great food, let us share with you one of our favorite recipes for you to try at home!
🥧 Butter Chicken Pie 🥧
(Makes 4-6 servings)
What you'll need for the chicken marinade:
• 1 kg chicken breast, diced 2cm
• 200g natural yoghurt
• 5g ginger paste
• 5g garlic paste
• 5g salt
• 1g coriander powder
• 1g cumin powder
• 2g garam masala
• 2g chilli powder
What you'll need for the butter chicken sauce:
• 100g unsalted butter
• 750g tomato paste
• 25ml oil
• 2.5g cumin
• 2.5g coriander
• 2.5g garam masala
• 10g salt
• 15g tandoori powder
• Drop red food colouring
• 700ml cream
• 150g sugar
And for the pie pastry:
• 6 sheets frozen puff pastry
• 1 egg
Instructions:
1. Marinate the chicken: Add all ingredients to a medium sized bowl and mix together thoroughly. Cover and set aside in the fridge overnight.
2. Preheat oven to 180°C.
3. Make the butter chicken sauce: Heat a medium size pot over lowest heat. Melt butter, and add all ingredients, except cream and sugar, and stir to combine. Cook gently for 2 hours. Add cream and sugar and slowly bring to the boil.
4. Cook the chicken: Heat a drizzle of oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken, in batches, for 4 to 5 minutes or until browned. Add chicken to butter chicken sauce and gently simmer for 20-30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. Set aside and allow to cool.
5. Make the pies: Cut out 6 rounds from the puff pastry, then drape pastry into pie tins. Fill pies with cooled filling, push down to fill. Should be slightly mounded. Cut rounds from partially remaining puff pastry - cut them slightly larger than the edge of the cooked pastry bases. Brush edge of pie crusts with egg, then place lid on filling, pressing edges to seal both pastries’ together. Brush lids with egg, then cut a 1cm incision in the middle using a small knife.
6. Cook your pies: Bake 30 minutes or until deep golden and puffed.
Impress the family or the flatties and treat them to a delicious pie this weekend with hot chips and your favourite gravy or sauce.
