Now $15! Great for a art space or creative child

01/05/2020

Dear Park Road Kitchen Customers, Friends and Family,

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart I have decided to close the doors at the current premises . I have learnt a tremendous amount in the past 3 years of trading, gained some massive life lessons, all of which have built up my resilience, stamina, determination, and none of which have deterred from the passion and deep love I still have for community, togetherness, creativity, food and coffee!

Unfortunately PRK has had a bumpy road along the way, with major building maintenance issues to contend with for years, and now we face the repercussions of this tremendous global pandemic. With the government deciding to close cafes down from late March until mid May, and a large site to pay for, no rent relief being offered going forward, all of which have made it clear that sadly it is the right decision to close this current site down. This business, like many others in hospitality, is based on high turnover and slim margins, so the suggestions of taking on debt to get through these uncertain times, or trading into insolvency would be risky, stressful and not for me. At this point there isn’t much help coming from the government to businesses and industries worst hit financially by the Covid-19 pandemic, so I have made one of the hardest calls in my life.

A huge thank you to all those special individuals that have been part of the PRK team! I know life at PRK was full on and demanding, so well done for rising to the challenge, all of your hard work, early starts, late finishes, covering for staff when they were sick or on holiday, working weekends, putting in the big days were legendary! Your awesome idea’s, passion, integrity, honesty, talents and dedication are all hugely appreciated. Park Road kitchen would be nothing without you and your commitment to the dream. I wish you much success and happiness in your future endeavours. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for making PRK your baby too.

I would also like to say an absolutely massive thank you, to all our fabulous customers! I am truly grateful and humbled by the support you have shown. Thank you for your infectious enthusiasm, great chats, good laughs, big smiles shared with myself and the team. Thank you for supporting local, keep that going, it makes our community more colourful and feeds the local economy.

Keep an eye out for me, I find it hard to keep still, so will try and resurface in a different location, with a slightly different approach. love, stay safe and happy, I miss you already!

One of the recent posts on their social media page caught our attention. They announced a special offer, reducing the price of one of their menu items to just $15. This is a great deal for those looking for an art space or a creative child-friendly environment.

In another post, they shared a lighthearted message about the effects of self-isolation, reassuring their followers that they are doing well. It's refreshing to see a business maintaining a positive attitude during these challenging times.

The team at Park Road Kitchen also took the opportunity to wish everyone a very happy Easter. Their playful post featured adorable emojis and expressed how much they miss their customers. It's evident that they value the connection they have with their community.

While browsing through their social media feed, we came across an interesting post about an attempted persimmon robbery in broad daylight. This humorous anecdote shows the fun and engaging nature of Park Road Kitchen's online presence.

One particularly heartwarming post showcased a Lego café created by kids at home. Complete with a party room, bathroom, walk-in chiller, and kitchen, this imaginative creation demonstrates the creativity and inspiration that Park Road Kitchen fosters within its community.

Additionally, Park Road Kitchen has shown generosity by offering free decaf coffee beans and giveaways like Rocky road bags and used coffee grounds for gardens. These gestures reflect their commitment to spreading love and positivity even during challenging times.

Furthermore, Park Road Kitchen has been supportive of other local businesses by promoting foodchainathome.co.nz—a residential home delivery service that provides essential baking ingredients, tinned foods, fresh meat, dairy products, and cleaning supplies. This collaboration highlights their dedication to supporting the community as a whole.

Although Park Road Kitchen is currently closed, their engaging social media presence and commitment to their customers are commendable. We look forward to their reopening in a new location and experiencing the warmth and creativity that they bring to the Auckland café scene.
