The Occidental is a traditional Belgian café located on Vulcan Lane in Auckland. Originally built in 1870 as a hotel and museum by American sailor Edward Perkins, it was transformed into the first authentic Belgian Beer Cafe in the Southern Hemisphere in 1999. The restaurant offers an extensive selection of delicious Belgian cuisine and some of the finest Belgian beers on tap and by the bottle, along with some of the best wines from New Zealand and Australia. To get to the Belgian restaurant and pub at Vulcan Lane in Auckland via public transport, take any bus or train that stops at Britomart Transport Centre. From there, walk northwest towards Queen Street and turn left onto Vulcan Lane. The venue will be on your right.
If you are driving to the venue, parking options include the Victoria Street Car Park, the Civic Car Park, and the Downtown Car Park. From any of these car parks, walk towards Queen Street and turn right onto Vulcan Lane. The venue will be on your left.
