It started with the sake.
A bottle of Zenkuro sitting on the bar. NZ's only sake, handcrafted in Queenstown from pure Southern Alps water and Japanese rice.
Then came the build. Elderflower for the floral lift. House ginger syrup for warmth. Fresh lemon to pull it all together. A nasturtium dropped over the rim.
The Ginger Sakura Spritz, new on our drinks menu, and already the one people keep ordering twice.
It doesn't need food to shine. The kind of drink you just sit with.
But put it on the table alongside the share plates and something clicks. That clean crisp finish cutting through richness. Floral against spice. Cold glass, warm food, good company.
That's the evening we're building here. Wednesday through Saturday from 5.30pm, Mangawhai.

We've recently introduced a new Next Level by Turning Point Coffee. A lighter-roast single-origin from El Suspiro, Colombia.
Tasting notes of floral, black tea, blackcurrant and dark caramel.
We're using it for filter, pour-overs and cold brew. If you haven't tried it yet, today's a good excuse.

Winter wellness at Brewed As.
These have been on our shelf for good reason. Turbo Tonic Turmeric Ginger & Lime, Mangawhai Honey, and Magick Brains by Misty Day. A mushroom and herb blend with lion's mane, tremella, cacao and peppermint. Sharp mind, strong body.
Order it as a drink on our menu or grab one to take home from our retail shelf.

Been on the menu a few weeks and it's already earning its place.. Warmed Vietnamese Duck Salad ..
Tender duck, crispy quinoa, a light zing of chilli, the crunch of bean sprouts and cucumber, sweet capsicum, miso dressing tying it all together, and fragrant Asian herbs grown right down the road at Left Fields in Waipu.
Warm, bright, a little punchy. The kind of salad that doesn't feel like a compromise.

Introducing the Ginger Hibiscus Fizz. Lyre's 0% London Dry, hibiscus, house ginger syrup, fresh lemon, Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic. Aromatic, refreshing, bright.
The shift is real, more people are choosing to drink less, and we're here for it. Our 0% drinks has had just as much thought, care and craft put into it as everything else on the list.
You shouldn't have to compromise on the experience just because you're not drinking.

Fresh menu. New flavours. Kicking off tomorrow.
New drinks menu is live. Incredible boutique products, small producers, wines you won't find everywhere.
The Damson Plum Amaretto Sour is back but with a twist... Disaronno Amaretto, Damson Plum Liqueur, from the Kapati coast, Starward Two Fold whisky, fresh lemon, egg white, Angostura bitters. Rich, velvety, bright.
And that's just the start. Plenty more on the menu worth discovering.
On the wine side, the Valli 'The Real McCoy'
A skin-contact Pinot Gris from Gibbston, Central Otago. 24 days on skins, aged in seasoned oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Pale peach in the glass, stone fruit and citrus on the nose, silky with fine tannin and a long dry finish.

A few weeks ago, our management team headed to Auckland for an afternoon tasting with the wonderful people at Great Little Vineyards.
15 years at the forefront of artisan wine in New Zealand, and exactly the kind of people we want choosing wines with us.
We tasted, we debated, we took a lot of notes. Our new winter drinks menu drops in the next few weeks.
