My apolgies for not advising on Facebook, that we were closed as a result of a close contact with Covid19. My staff used other social media and I did not realise Facebook was missed out. ANYWAY, our staff isolation period had ended and we will be back to Contactless Takeaways as from Tuesday 16th November.

Back to Level 3 on Wednesday 22nd Sept. We will be open for Contactless pickup. Order on line on our website www.zapthai.co.nz or you can phone in, or just order at the window. Looks like dining in is still two weeks away. All our chefs live in our bubble and have just had their second vaccine jab today!

Zap Restaurants opened their first outlet in 1996 in the Food Court in Albert Street, Auckland CBD. Their second outlet, Zap2 Thai Café & Bar, opened in Balmoral in 1999. Having established a good reputation, and ably supported by their extended family, the owners, Payao and Hamish, opened two furt...

Yesterday, the Monks came to Zap2 to celebrate the anniversary of the passing of the Zap Family Matriarch, Tor Chomkhunthod. Sorry for the customers who found we were closed yesterday. When my friends posted this photo on Facebook, I could not resist having a plug for my fundraising for "Hands Across the Water". The beautiful artwork on the wall is for sale, original work from Thailand. Help Hamish raise $5000 for the 350 children in the seven "Hands" run orphanages in Thailand.

11/10/2020

We are closed today, Monday 12th Oct, for a Family Function, remembering the passing of the Zap Matriarch, Tor Chomkhunthod, seven years ago.
I hope our customers understand, and are not inconvenienced.

Just to remind you all that Level 3 means takeaways from the front of the restaurant. 3 ways to order: online from our website www.zapthai.co.nz; phone us on 09 6386393 or just walk up to the window. The eftpos terminal is by the window. Don't go hungry!

Probably no need to tell you that dining in is now on the menu at Level 2. Thanks to everyone who has been picking up their takeaways from the front window. Now a few less tables than normal, so get your bookings in early because we may fill up rather quickly. Yao and her team will be so pleased to see you all again. I know signing the tracing register is a pain, but we must all do it. If Mickey Mouse signs in more than once a night … he will be banned!!

What people say

Zap Thai Restaurants, located on Dominion Road in Auckland, has received mixed reviews from various sources. According to a recent review in the New Zealand Herald, the restaurant offers "authentic and delicious" Thai cuisine with a "friendly and welcoming" atmosphere. The reviewer particularly enjoyed the Pad Thai and Green Curry dishes. However, a review on TripAdvisor from last month had a different experience, stating that the food was "average at best" and the service was slow.

A more positive review comes from Metro Magazine's website, which praises Zap Thai for its "flavour-packed curries" and "crispy fried chicken". The review also mentions that the restaurant has a BYO policy, which is always a plus for diners looking to save money on drinks.

On Zomato, there are mixed reviews with an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars. One customer raves about their experience at Zap Thai, saying that it's their "go-to spot for authentic Thai food". Another customer complains about the portion sizes being too small for the price.

Online customer comments include one person who says they had an "amazing meal" with "great service", while another person says they were disappointed with their meal as it was not spicy enough despite requesting extra spice.

No information is available yet on how recently these reviews were posted or if there have been any recent changes to Zap Thai Restaurants' menu or management. Overall, it seems that Zap Thai Restaurants has received both positive and negative feedback from customers and critics alike. It may be worth trying out for those who are looking for authentic Thai cuisine in Auckland but be prepared for some mixed experiences.
