Sometimes I spread cocoa butter/chocolate spray mix on the back of the fondant before placing it on the cake. Once it touches the cold cake, it sets almost instantly and gives extra support, which is especially helpful when doing drapes . You don’t always need to do this, but it really helps with larger pieces or when the fondant takes longer to set.
