TONIGHT: Ding D**g Lounge Band Competition 2026 kicks off.
Four Auckland acts take the stage at Dead Witch tonight, playing original music and competing for a share of more than $11,000 in prizes.
Featuring Mistress, Jetval, Sonshine Unit and Lee Connor and the Walks of Life, Heat 1 is your chance to discover new music, back local bands and see who makes it through to the semi-finals.
The competition has backed Auckland's original music scene since 2014, and it starts again tonight.

JUST ONE FIX + NEURAL DECAY | DEAD WITCH
The night before Iron Maiden and Megadeth play their first show back in New Zealand, Auckland metal bands Just One Fix and Neural Decay take the stage at Dead Witch, upstairs at Ding D**g Lounge.
Formed in 1998, Just One Fix are long-standing figures in the local metal scene, with a sound spanning thrash, groove, death and doom metal. Joining them, Neural Decay bring a younger take on thrash, influenced by Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.

MIC DROP KARAOKE BATTLE
Think you've got the vocals to back it up? Put them to the test.
We're taking karaoke to the next level on Friday 23 October, with three rounds of competition, live judging and prizes up for grabs at Dead Witch.
Hosted by Skin McMahon, with a proper live sound setup, stage monitors and lyrics screens, this is your chance to get on stage and prove yourself.
Rock, metal, punk, emo, indie, alternative or anything else. All genres are welcome.
🏆 First prize: $100 cash + an $80 Ding D**g Lounge dining voucher, with dining vouchers also up for grabs for second, third and fourth place.

MEET LEO OLMOS AKA LAST TENGU FROM SUNSET TATTOO
This Saturday, Leo Olmos from Sunset Tattoo joins the judging panel at the Ding D**g Lounge Ink Battle!
Originally from Chile, Leo has over seven years of tattooing experience from Perth, Australia, and specialises in traditional and neo-traditional tattoos.
Inspired by metal, punk and goth subcultures, dark fantasy, horror, gaming and pop culture, his work combines bold, timeless designs with a personal twist. Think monsters, medieval fantasy and classic traditional ink.

To get to the live music venue and bar & grill on Wyndham Street in Auckland, you can take the public transport option by getting off at Britomart or Queen Street and walking towards Wyndham Street. Alternatively, if you are driving, you can take the Southern Motorway to Nelson St / Port exit, turn left onto Fanshawe St and then turn right onto Halsey St. From there, turn right on to Gaunt St which leads to Wyndham St. There are several parking options nearby including Wilson Parking on Hobson Street or Victoria Street or ACB car park on Albert Street.
