The décor at Florrie McGreal's Irish Pub is typically Irish, with a cozy outside alcove area complete with its own fireplace and gas heaters to keep you warm on chilly winter nights. Named after the owner's grandmother, this pub has a rich history dating back to 1993 when it was first established in the Poenamo Hotel before moving to its current location in August 2009.
The story behind the name adds to the charm of this establishment. Florrie McGreal was born in Northern Ireland in 1888 and married Simon Patrick McGreal, who hailed from Co Tipperary in Republic of Ireland. Despite their differences - Florrie was Protestant and a teetotaller while Simon was Catholic and enjoyed his drink - they had an interest that brought them together: running pubs.
