As many will know, the economic landscape has tightened and we’ve naturally seen lunch trade ease back, with demand after 1pm now very limited.
Rather than fight the change, we’ve chosen to embrace it.
From 1.15pm onwards, we’re now focusing our energy on growing our dog walking and pet care business throughout the Eastern Bays, allowing us to make the most of the afternoons while continuing to do what we love.
Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support. Sometimes business evolves, and we’re grateful to have the flexibility to evolve with it.

From the stunning sunrises over Karaka Bay to rolling waves at Bethells Beach, zoomies across wild sand and pats on demand.
As many of our café customers will know, economic headwinds are real across hospitality. We’re adjusting our trading hours and now close at 1pm to focus our energy on the next chapter of the business and our refreshed afternoon pet care bookings at 1.15pm–2.15pm and 3.45pm.
And this is where that extra time goes.
We’re incredibly humbled by the trust owners place in us each week, allowing us to spend time with their dogs and bring out the energy, enrichment and fun for this wonderful crew.
From urban farm adventures and lead walks to structured neighbourhood strolls, off-lead parks and beach explorations, every outing is tailored to the dogs in our care.
The goal remains simple: tired dogs, happy owners and plenty of memories along the way.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support both and as we build something a little different in the Eastern Bays.
Thanks,
Tim, Ruby & Sophia

A few conversations. A few observations. A few opportunities.
As Pet Co continues to grow, and with shifts in the wider economy, we’re taking a closer look at how we can best serve both our four legged friends and our lunchtime café crowd a little better.
Some positive changes are brewing behind the scenes for &

Easter is always a slightly different rhythm for our little corner, with many of our community heading away for a well-earned break.
So we’ve made the call to pause and take a breather too — we’ll be closed from Good Friday through to Easter Monday, and back open from 6.30am Tuesday.
With the mix of public holidays and our usual Sunday closure, Saturday becomes a quieter one, so it feels like the right moment for our team to recharge.
Wishing everyone a relaxing and enjoyable long weekend.

Big respect to everyone getting after it today 💪
Rain, wind, whatever was thrown your way — no excuses, just effort.
Awesome to see the crew from the Glendowie Harriers Club showing up and putting in the work in all conditions.
That’s what consistency looks like 👊

Little autumn refresh out on the deck 🍁
Gave it a tidy with a proper leaf clean up and fresh new cushions making that alfresco coffee even more of a vibe.
Inside, we cleared out a few bits from eras gone by…

Autumn shelf reshuffle this week… moving a few things around while the timing was right 🍂
Which of course sparked the classic questions:“Are you closing down?”“Are you selling?”“Is something happening?”
After nearly 27 years… it’s simply business as usual.
We’ll keep turning up, keep smiling, keep brewing ☕️Just now with a cleaner, clearer space.

What people say
Cigana, located on Maskell Street in St Heliers, is a café that has been serving delicious coffee since 1999. They have set out to change the way people drink coffee and have succeeded in doing so. The team at Cigana is not only passionate about coffee but also about their furry friends. They welcome dogs with open arms and even offer Mutt Butter or Puppachino for them to enjoy.
Apart from their love for dogs, Cigana is also people-centric and offers flexible part-time roles for those interested in joining their team. You don't need to be a trained barista as they are looking for individuals to support their front of house role.
Their freshly baked goods are a must-try, especially the Pork & Sweet chilli rolls that just came out of the ovens. Their range of pies including creamy chicken, Steak & Cheese or B & E pies are also good to go.
Cigana has extended their hours due to unprecedented demand and now closes a little later than before. They have a seasonal collection of freshly baked goods that keeps building by the week.
Overall, Cigana is an excellent café with friendly staff, great coffee, and delicious food. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!
