It’s funny, if you were round prior to me starting this run club - you would’ve seen me taking the p**s about making this run club just for runners and only for people that are serious or can run at “my pace” lol.
After the first couple weeks, I quickly learnt that’s not gonna be the case. It’s like the hand of God touched my shoulder and I felt some sort of responsibility to my people, this area, my community - that it had to be a space for EVERYONE.
Because South Aucklander’s come in all forms, all shapes all sizes. From seeing who showed up, to hearing their why. We battle so much on the day to day, week to week, is your chance to put yourself first early on Sunday morning - to get out whatever it is you need. Some time out the house, some fresh air, some movement, slow fast walk or sprint - we all just come together to move - our way.
6am. Sunday. Sladdin. 100mins. Cold. Dark. We showed up.
It’s beautiful and I’m so proud of what we’ve created.
Long may it continue. 💛

I kinda like when everything is shut. Makes us grateful for what we have, makes us resourceful, we don’t over indulge. We have to interact more with loved ones, cos there’s no where to “escape” to, lol.
And that’s exactly how we live in the village, you don’t get out too far, you love your community, you live off the land, everyone is close, physically and socially.
Back in the day, everything would be closed in the weekends, I’m guessing we’ll never go back to that, but damn there could be some great value in everything being closed on Sundays or something haha - will never happen cos there’s always greedy people who can’t get enough out there lol.

Anyone else have this conundrum? Say what you like, maybe I’m in business for the wrong reasons like I know you’re “meant to” always strive to level up and scale etc etc but who else loves the other side of their life so much? Yes, for a decade SNH was my baby and I poured my heart and soul into growing that little baby haha but now I got two other little babies at home that need me, a lot atm and I just wanna be there for them.
Success to me is being wherever I wanna be - whenever I wanna be there. I never dreaded working 7days building SNH cos I loved it. Right now I’m happy and content being at home more cos that’s just where I wanna be - in this season.

Just one of them days man - God sees everything, sometimes he sets little challenges for you to grow, and then gives you some gifts to say - keep doing what you do - keep saying yes to opportunities when your fear is quick to say no to “protect” you. The only thing it’s protecting is your lack of growth.
