Hi everyone,
We wanted to share an update regarding the Goose Bakery car park.
Thank you to everyone who has respected our space and parked only while visiting us. Your support truly means a lot to our team 🤍
Unfortunately, we are still experiencing unauthorised parking, long stays, overnight parking and rubbish being left behind. This continues to affect our customers, staff and the small team who work hard here every day.
From this Saturday 17 January, we will be actively enforcing our car park rules, as we can no longer rely on goodwill alone.
Our car park is private and permission to park is only while visiting the bakery. It is under full camera surveillance and clear towing signage is now in place at both the entrance and rear exit. This includes situations where vehicles are parked, people walk through the café and then leave via the back exit without being customers.
From this date, vehicles parked without visiting Goose Bakery are parked at their own risk and may be towed.
Please note that our car park is not a public or farmers market car park. Saturdays are especially challenging due to the Matakana Village market, and misuse of our parking directly impacts our business.
This is not about punishment. It is about protecting our space for our customers and staff.
If you are visiting us, you are very welcome to park here.If not, please use alternative parking.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
The Goose Bakery Team 🤍

Hi everyone,
We don’t usually post things like this and we’ve stayed quiet about it for a long time but we feel it’s time to be honest.
Goose Bakery is a small, hardworking local business. Our team starts early, finishes late and genuinely cares about keeping this place welcoming for the community and visitors alike.
Lately, we’ve been struggling with ongoing unauthorised parking in our private car park, cars left for long hours during the day, overnight stays and sadly quite often rubbish left behind as well. This means our customers can’t park, our staff have nowhere to leave their cars and our team regularly has to clean up after people who aren’t even visiting us.
It’s disheartening.
We’ve ignored it, cleaned up quietly and hoped it would improve.
Because of this, we’ll be moving to 24/7 monitoring of the car park with clear signage, simply to protect our space and the people who rely on it.
This isn’t about punishment or conflict. It’s about asking for understanding, consideration and basic respect.
If you’ve parked here without visiting us, or left rubbish behind please think about the impact that has on a small local business and the people behind it.
Thank you to everyone who supports us and treats our space with care. It truly means more than you might realise. 🤍
Regards,
The Goose Bakery team 🤎
