It is beautiful today at Mangawhai Estuary but not conducive to passing gelato out of a caravan. We went for an early morning reccy and discovered the wind is simply too windy.
If you have a great hat and a coat it's worth getting out amongst it before the rain arrives.
Stay safe and we will see you on Friday.
Of course get in touch for delivery if you need it in the meantime.

Hey friends, this is our last Wednesday & Thursday as we prepare to slow down for winter.
There are plenty of favourites in today and we will still be here Friday to Sunday with DELICIOUS gelato, peppy coffee, decadent affogato, and a variety of hot drinks to sustain you through the cooler months.
If the weather allows we will also be open this Monday 1st June public holiday π

Today we said goodbye to a beautiful family who have been part of our weekly routine this year.
A discerning (sorry there was no liquorice today) and adventurous bunch living their best lives, here in the southern summer and in their homeland of Canada for the northern summer. π
Today our farewell was made extra special by this AMAZING lego ice cream van π€©π©·
Thanks you guys for all the smiles and chats and reminding us that life can be whatever you make it!! Travel safe x

Pinching ourselves that we are so fortunate to be in this magical place.
Open until 5:30pm
Until the end of May we will be here Wednesday to Sunday from 11am weekdays and 8am weekends.
Once June hits you will find us Friday through to Sunday, and public holidays.
No matter the weather there is always a moment of beauty to enjoy here at Mangawhai Estuary.

The summer compilation of flavours, can you guess what they are?!
Preparations are underway for ANZAC day and the long weekend.
Friday we are rained off but at 5am Saturday the coffee will be brewing for the Dawn Service at Alamar Crescent.
Some traditional Edmonds ANZAC biscuits are in the oven to dunk in your cuppa or sandwich around your gelato.
May this reflective weekend bring peace and love into our lives, and hopefully a bit of sunshine.

Soft Saturday morning light and al new moon feel. Everything is a wee bit fresh (including the coffee beans) and anything feels possible.
was buzzing last night with in the kitchen, & a kingi was hauled in from the waters edge by the magical
The morning was aflurry with the π , market prep, , swimmers, fishermen and people out for a walk.
Mangawhai estuary is full of life and with on the waters edge you can paddle your way out amongst the fish or over to the dunes.
Every now and again it feels good to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in this place as part of the Mangawhai community.
We are looking forward to the rest of the weekend, maybe we will see you x

They say two is company and three is a crowd but three is great company in our opinion!
And no crowds now that we are in really truly Autumn.
We have been busy making all the goodies while it rained so with delicious at maximum and queuing at a mimimum, this week of the holidays is THE BEST for gelato in Mangawhai.

When life gives you lemons....
Well the wild weather gave us days off and the garden gave us pumpkins so instead of lemonade we made made pie.

Fresh beans and Mangawhai made gelato. Creamy with the perfect sweet to bitter ratio. Cool and refreshing but definitely decadent.
This time it's the whole jersey milk based double shot espresso gelato drowned in the double shot espresso.

I'm having quite a good time here with all the treats.
Just thinking if you are looking for a Valentine's Day gift (for self or other, if you're like me treating yourself comes naturally π) then our made by fressko reuseable, insulated, spillproof cups are AMAZING and adorable. Great for gelato, hot drinks, or both!!
Happy to be mobile enough to spend some time in here (im at halfway with the moonboot) and looking forward to seeing more of your lovely faces xx

Wow 2026 you are already packing a punch! π
January was filled with ups and downs, weather extremes, and a lot of adapting. Not only for us. Some beautiful highlights and some real devastation, like a microcosm of life squeezed into a month.
You will have seen a number of different lovely faces, in the caravan and at events, with Ester out of action. Always the amazing Sean, up at the crack of dawn and falling into bed after big days of scooping. He loves it.
Thank you community and visitors, friends and gelato lovers, for making it work x
