is one of our all time favourite distilleries, so much so that we've even been for a swim there once upon a time, and it was brisk to be sure!
Further to the north of where we took that cold plunge, above Islay and Jura is the world's second largest whirlpool, the famous Corryvreckan. This thunderous, seething cauldron is named after the Viking Prince Breacan, who apparently met his watery end there.
Swirl your glass to smell torrents of dark chocolate, blackcurrants and muscovado, before a heady mix of treacle, menthol and chilli sauce follows.
In your mouth, the first plunge is deep, peppery and chewy with crispy seaweed, before espresso coffee coats the palate with rich melted dark fruits and star anise.
The alcohol Vol at 57.1% means it's no light drop, but certainly a worthy experience on your next visit...

In this weather, we love being warmed up by a delicious dram like this amazing Japanese Single Malt from the Hakushu distillery, known as "the mountain forest distillery," because it is located deep in the forest of Japan’s Southern Alps.
Produced from a combination of different aged casks and styles of wood from the Hakushu distillery, the Distillers Reserve is a light and delicately smoky style of Japanese whisky. Grassy, herbal and fruity with a whiff of smoke in the background, this is a light and very easy drinking single malt whisky.
