There is a reason our coffee is so highly regarded, and it’s time you knew why.

Craig started roasting coffee back in 1984, with a passion for classic Italian-style espresso. The boutique blend we serve today has remained unchanged since 1988 and has become a favourite amongst locals who appreciate great coffee.

Craig was also one of the original tenants on Princes Wharf, creating this little boat-inspired espresso bar on the waterfront around the time of the America’s Cup in the early 2000s. Every detail mattered — from the coffee bean door handles and Rimu floors to the beautiful curved timber countertop. It was built with character, care and a real love for coffee.

Today, Frith continues roasting this iconic blend and keeping the tradition alive, while Craig remains involved in the business he created.

It’s a real honour for us to continue serving this coffee here in Craig’s old shop on Princes Wharf. It’s a big part of why we have so many customers who keep coming back.

And the best compliment? When an Italian guest tries your espresso, orders another one straight away, and tells you how good it is.

So make the journey downtown, relax by the waterfront and enjoy a coffee with nearly 40 years of history behind it.

Cheers Craig, Frith & Victoria ☕️

Morning glory! ☀️

Here is our seasonal winter scone special. Fresh Black Périgord truffle from Hawke’s Bay, courtesy of Ohiwa Black Diamond Truffles - Ohiwa Kitchen – thank you so much!

Each scone has around 3–4 grams of fresh black truffle mixed through it, making for a pretty special winter treat. If you’d like to make it even more indulgent, I can grate a little extra fresh truffle over the top and serve it warm with butter.

Very limited quantities, very seasonal, and only here while the truffles last. Hope you like it! 🍄🧈
