Throwback to 4 years ago to a cake I made for my daughter to give her dad for his birthday. The gumpaste cat was a bit rough but it was 11pm by the time I modelled that so I was a bit tired (lucky it was a freebie cake!). Was fun creating the gigantic ball of wool which was a chocolate cake layered with choc ganache, and covered with a lot of twisted strands of fondant to give the wool effect.

An order that went out yesterday from my lovely customer for the team at a branch of Gecko in The Village, a gorgeous gift shop here in Auckland. Based on their store logo, the cookies have handpainted leafy backgrounds with handpiped Gecko on top.

Something new is coming soon to AnyaJune… handmade cake toppers!This one was my little test piece and I’m honestly loving how it turned out. Lots of layers, rolled flowers, tiny details and a fair bit of patience involved 😂
I’ll be making these available soon, with different colours and styles. Perfect for birthdays, special cakes, or just making a plain cake look a little extra fancy.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO........AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH....... (not crying at all 😭😭😭)..... my super fabulous heavy duty commercial silicone rolling pin that I've had for about 16 years (& cost me $80 way back then!!!) has rolled its last cookie 🍪 😕 😭😭😭 I was happily rolling out cookies for another order when suddenly SNAP went my rolling pin. Thank goodness I have a spare rolling pin, albeit a basic wooden one, but nothing compares to this one. Now to get online and find a replacement.....once I've dried my tears 😢

These little guys will be with me at the Sunday Country Market (Franklin Market at Pukekohe) at the Pukekohe racecourse this Sunday, 24th May!!! Look for my "Say It With Cookies" pink and white sign and buy some delicious sweet treats to make it the perfect Sunday. I'll have some of my customer favourites, including my caramel slice, plus many other baked goodies and some brand new creations. Market is on from 8am-1pm and there's plenty of parking there. See you then!!!

When I bake anything chocolatey I only use good quality baking cocoa, traditionally either Avalanche or Donovans, as it gives a much richer chocolate colour and flavour. Check out the price increase for Avalanche baking cocoa in the past year!!!!! It's been this price since early this year which means a $10 increase in approx 6-8 months 😲 Still only use the good stuff because it's worth it but sheesh 😕
