I am delighted to announce that an exciting new venture, modelled off Woody Bay Pizzeria, is in the works.

Kate Farrant, who had been a Rakino Island resident for 4 years has taken on the mammoth project of converting a 1960’s ex-Fullers ferry into a floating restaurant.

This restaurant, with its home port in Woody Bay, will travel around the Hauraki Gulf serving ‘Alf approved’ traditional Napoli pizza.

This idyllic getaway is only 40 minutes from Auckland by boat or ferry and then a mere 20 second flat walk to Woody Bay - one of Hauraki Bay's most stunning beaches. The bay and island views from either the upper or lower deck are world class and breathtaking.

The current owner's kids are now grown up and living overseas so this unique property is enthusiastically welcoming its next family to enjoy Rakino's treasured and well kept secrets.

The house comes with absolutely everything you need for a comfortable, yet totally off-grid, lifestyle - Chattels include the car, furniture, appliances, bedding, towels, 5Kw solar system, generator, pizza oven, ice machine and much more, so you can enjoy a turn key and hassle free experience from day one.

There are two bedrooms downstairs, a main queen bedroom with wardrobe and chest of drawers and a double/single bunk with extra mattresses for visiting families or kids sleepover. Also, there's a modern bathroom with washing machine and an under stairs storage area.

Upstairs features a generous dining and lounge area with double folding doors at either end and full floor to ceiling windows to take advantage of the sea and natural bush views.

The kitchen is well equipped with a gas stove/oven, fridge/freezer and plenty of storage and shelving, plus all the crockery, cutlery, pots pans and extras you wish for to entertain your family and visitors.

As for entertaining, the front lower deck area used to house Woody Bay Pizzeria, now adapted for an expansive family and friends outdoor entertainment area. It includes the pizza oven, a massive chest freezer, ice machine, washing up area with hot water and ample shelving.

The large 836m2 section has a substantial garden (with flat areas for tents), solar panels supplying household power and there's walking access to the property from the upper roadside.

A very big thank you to all the helpers and customers over the last four years!

It would have been impossible to operate without family, friends and the great kids on Rakino who managed so well in a very stressful environment on busy days.

And a grateful thanks to all those very loyal customers who have wished me luck and supported the pizzeria so well.

ANNOUNCEMENT - Woody Bay Pizzeria will close for this season and permanently (under the current owner, Alf) on Easter Sunday, so there are two weekends left to enjoy a pizza in Woody Bay!

I am closing the pizzeria mainly due to fickle weather and health reasons - a really busy day is too hard on this old bod!

Open this Saturday (22nd) for lunch and dinner and Sunday for lunch - text orders to 021 345577 - usual menu offering

Sorry team, i have to close today as I haven’t been able to make dough and can’t hold a pizza peel because of an arthritis flare up - let’s see what next weekend brings. Enjoy your Sunday

Evening all. The pizzeria will be closed tonight and Saturday due to SW winds and arthritis in my hand which prohibits me making dough. If it clears up enough tomorrow I may open for Sunday lunch although the forecast is for more SW winds. Check here tomorrow for updates.

Two weekends left after that - hoping for amazing weather and pain free hands to end the season with a bang!

Hi Troops! Unfortunately we have three days of Westerlies this weekend and I have some commitments in Tauranga so we are closed all weekend.

There are four weekends left for the season as we will close on Easter Sunday.

Hopefully we have great weather in March!

Public Transport:
- Take the train or bus to Britomart Station
- From Britomart, it is a 10-minute walk to Jane York Place

Driving:
- From Southern Motorway, take the Nelson Street exit towards Harbour Bridge
- Turn right onto Cook St and continue straight onto Union St
- Turn left onto Drake St and continue until you reach Jane York Place

Parking:
